I'd like to start off by introducing myself; I'm Artifex Riru. There, now that that's out of the way I'd like to say I'll be doing rants on things. I'll ranting about about much a particular thing is awsome or how much it should be dragged out into the street and shot repeatedly.

You can give me subjects to rant upon just by e-mailing me. Or use the same e-mail to give me your questions, comments and/or death threats.

LETTERS TO RIRU:

Dear Artifex Riru,

What's your input on using existing characters in chat?

sincerely,

Dear 'Goku'...,

Trade mark charas (ie: pokemon, Dragon Ball, squaresoft, etc) and my beef with them. First of all...pokemon!? I can understand an anime influence since my main used character (Rile) is based on ideas brought forth from anime but he isn't a rip off. But pokemon..? Where was you predictions of evil on this one Nostradamus!? Sigh.. It's just too hokey to take serious in any serious rp (quell surprise). Dragonball is step above pokemon, but it's still trash. There is no plot thus no charas really. It's all "I'm gonna kick your ass" "No I'm gonna kick your ass!" This back and forth usually last five episodes and then the actual fight takes place over the next ten. Sorry, can't take it seriously at all. I have no quarrels with Squaresoft in any way as most of the games I own for the psx are made by them. My problem lies in the fact that taking a prefabricated chara so that the player doesn't have to think up anything and then the player places them in an rp world (ie: going from FF7 to lycos' Mystic Tavern). It just isn't good sense at all. There is no character developement that takes place because their story has already been told, felt and experienced; let it go already. And when these charas are used in role play they are over acted and stereotyped so how does someone expect to have a good time when most of the people in the room are attempting to ignore a lamer such as this?
*shrug* Use your own imagination to make up your own character and your storyline as this is the entire point to role playing.

Until next time.

 Dear Artifex Riru,

I'm having a problem with this guy in chat. I was minding my own business, and then he tried to bring me into this storyline that I didn't want to be in. I tried being nice but he started picking a fight, so I put him on ignore. Now he's going around telling everyone that he 'killed' my character. Any suggestions, someone told me he did an "auto death" because I "gave up" *frown*

Frustratingly Yours,
Not-Dead-Yet

Not-Dead-Yet,
here's my thoughts on this. While it is considered good rp to reason with the ruffian before doing anything like ignoring him, you did the right thing. If he has the mentality to declare you dead after he is ignored then you shouldn't even listen to the other fools that said your chara is dead. Approach the individual and try to reason him oocly and if he further insists upon your death ignore him permanently as he's not worth your time. Good luck, Not-Dead-Yet.

Dear Artifex Riru,

My char is a seething pile of maggots wrought from the depths of hell-fire, carrying the putrid stench of death in his wake....... why doesn't anybody like me?

Sincerely,
Awesome Invincible Moder Guy with long metal spikes that protrude from my back when I'm in my battle armor.
Vampire Tavern

Dear Moder,

*looks around from left to right* You can't be serious...An idiot like this still exists? Yes, it's a sad truth; newbie lamer moders still roam the earth in search of what they deem to be awsome rp....which is just causing scuffles and claiming invincibility. For shame... My usual reaction is to ignore them vehemetly until they go away. I don't even give them the time of day since their reasoning process is a figment of their imagination. Anyways, back to the person asking the question...if I see you anywhere near my presmisis your life will be forfeit.
